From her hospital bed, Dinah beamed. And sniffled a little. And then e-mailed:

TO: Alice, Leto
FROM: Dinah
RE: GRAND DEBUT OF AWESOME

CONGRATULATIONS! very happy for you guys! Hope to see her at next homecoming, maybe?

Will be sending chocolate and baby stuff as soon as possible!

Leto replied to the one sent to him alone:

Thank you, Dinah. You know I'm going to be disappointed if you don't come and visit and agree with me that she is the most beautful child. I hope you too are well

From Arthur came an incredibly formal-looking congratulatory letter (using a lot of 'we are pleased to hear of's), complete with mark of the House of Pendragon.

He'd been going kind of back and forth on using it, what with Uther not knowing a thing about neither Alice, Leto, nor the island, and well, there was the second matter.

Which came in the form of a small attached note, addressed only to Leto, and containing simply the words, You couldn't bother to marry the girl first?

Arthur would be Arthur, as per usual, though he had felt himself obligated to add a note to Alice, reading I do not know how you have managed to stave off the urge to kill him in his sleep. I do not want to know. But I hope the three of you are happy, and will continue to be for years to come. Do not tell him I said that under any circumstances.

Arthur got a response which included a letter of 'Thank you for your congratulations to the birth of our daughter' (perhaps slightly less formal than Arthur's letter, but with the seal of House Atreides), and a note from Leto:

That was not possible, unfortunately. Politics. But I assure you that, like my mother, Alice will be wife in everything but name.

Leto

Leto was rather amused at himself for feeling the need to point this out. He felt it wise to leave out the part where he was now technically married to Ghanima, as he suspected that would be a little too much for most people he had known in Fandom.
