I was thinking that Bones came into his mutation later in his life- specifically after his divorce. After that, the hospital he was working at fired him and he had literally nowhere else to go but Xavier's?

That sounds good~ Jim's had his powers since teenagehood, but he's avoided all charle's attempts to get him to the academy since Jim's dad was an X-man and DIED DOING SOMETHING NOBLE which Jim thinks is stupid. But he's here now as an adult student. 8D

Can Bones be the one who went and got him and brought him to the academy this time??

By college to you mean tertiary education? JIM AIN'T DONE THAT (it's why he's heeeere sortof) :'D But Jim can totally have loitered around med school because he was dating one of Bones' classmates?
