OOC: Random Facts about Zelos!

Feb 07, 2008 03:28

I probably should mention that a lot of this is my headcanon for Zelos!

1. Zelos used to love cold weather when he was younger. Not so much since his mother’s death...now, he hates winter, along with cold, ice, and snow. Whenever it snows in Meltokio, Zelos takes a pilgrimage to a southern city and stays there a while. He never learned how to use any ice-based magic, either.

2. His favorite season is summer. Not only is it decidedly not cold and icy, but there are people in swimsuits. ♥

3. He likes kids A LOT. As infamous as he is among Tethe’alla’s women for his flirtatiousness, he’s well-known among Meltokio’s children for almost always being willing to play with them. His favorite age group to play with is four to eleven year olds.

4. Lloyd telling Zelos that he trusted him was what gave him the strength to execute his “betrayal” plan.

5. He didn’t actually plan on being able to continue being friends with Lloyd and co. afterward. He figured that overall, they would be better off without him, so he was willing to give up what would have been his first real “friends” because he thought it would be in their best interest.

6. He may not seem like it, but Zelos is quite good at math.

7. He plays the piano and guitar - he took piano lessons until he was twelve, and was fairly talented, but he gave it up. Guitar, he more or less makes up as he goes (he likes serenading~). He hasn’t touched a piano in quite a while, but he’s had more and more of an urge lately to see if he can still play.

8. He first started playing the piano because his mother played so beautifully. He wanted to do the same. Despite the fact that his instructor thought he was doing marvelously, he was apparently never good enough in his mother’s eyes.

9. Mylene (his mother) died when Zelos was eight and Seles was five. Their father died a year prior.

10. Zelos would do almost anything for his friends. While growing up, he didn’t really have any, so now that he does, they are exceptionally important to him. There’s not much they could ask of him that he wouldn’t do (like, say, cuddling because of a stupid need to hug something~). He doesn’t make this overly public information, though. :D;

11. His favorite fruit is melon.

12. He’s very sensitive to the area around his shoulder blades (around where his wings emerge from) being touched.

13. When Zelos was little, and before he was aware of what his duties as the Chosen were, he wanted to be an astronomer. Grand aspirations? Maybe. He always liked stars, and one day, he asked Sebastian if there were people who got to look at stars all the time. Sebastian told him that astronomers did. XD

14. On that note, he loves stargazing. He and Seles used to do it a lot, when she wasn't too sick. His favorite spot for viewing the stars is the top of the Fooji Mountains.

15. He hates being at home most of the time, because it’s huge and empty. Not that Sebastian’s presence doesn’t count, but still. He likes Phoenix’s apartment, because he thinks it’s cozy.

16. Speaking of Sebastian, he’s pretty much the one who raised Zelos. Because of this, Zelos trusts him a lot. Sebastian really couldn’t raise him as his parent, so he did the best that a butler could do.

17. Zelos would easily give up his life if it could bring his mother back and give her a chance to be happy.

18. He feels that his stance concerning half-elves is something of a betrayal to his mother. He probably wouldn’t have stepped in to stop some of the Pope’s more drastic measures against half-elves if he weren’t concerned that they would evolve and someday affect Seles. Now, he's working with the King to try to change things and lessen (the end goal is to completely end) discrimination against them. It's pretty much Lloyd's fault. XD

19. He doesn’t sleep much. As little as he can get away with, actually. When he does, he's a very, very light sleeper.

20. He doesn’t really care what people think of him. He’s had to put up with a lot of baseless slander, so he just stopped caring and sometimes even encourages people’s misconceptions.

21. He’s never really been in "love". He doesn't really feel that he deserves it, and tries to avoid deeper feelings and attachment. Also, most everyone that he's encountered had only been using him in some way, so he's wary due to that as well.

22. He fights in Meltokio's Coliseum when he's feeling depressed or angry. Phoenix was right to worry about him being reckless when he's down, because he is. In a very subtle way.

23. He has a lot of respect for devoted parents, since his...weren't. Also, he has a grudging admiration and respect for what Seles' mother was willing to do for what she thought was in her daughter's best interest, despite what it ended up costing him.

24. Zelos and Seles have had an...interesting relationship. Up until the time that they both lost their mothers, they were quite close, with Zelos often playing with/trying to take care of Seles, as she was prone to being sick. After that, they backed off from each other, trying to seem as if they didn't really care about one another, while still worrying and overall being concerned over each others' well beings. It wasn’t until recently that they realized they did still care about each other, and had been trying to reconstruct their relationship. Until the truth virus shattered it again, that is. Zelos is working on repairing the damage that caused.

25. He takes almost everything in stride, and there are precious few things that can actually upset or depress him. Talking about his parents usually isn't a good way to go, but he can still smile, most of the time. It doesn't bother him when people talk about their parents. Normally, the only things that will really set him off is when something happens to people he really cares about.

26. He has no idea where his physical boundaries are. People have been latching on to him with or without his permission for years. At first he objected to it, but as time went on, he just stopped caring. Because of this, he also has a general tendency to somewhat ignore other people’s boundaries as well.

27. Unless it's something huge (for example, what happened with Seles during the truth virus), you probably won't ever know when something's bothering him.

28. Zelos desperately wants to believe that he's done something in his life that made his mother proud of him in some way.

29. Zelos sees a lot of himself in Edgeworth. He doesn’t think Edgeworth sees it, though, probably due to the fact that they handle things in completely opposite ways.

30. He loves to read; however, it's not information that he's likely to openly share. His bookshelves are filled with various things; mostly nonfiction, especially in things such as mathematical theory, psychology, astronomy, government, and history (he has many books relating to the Chosen and the Journey of Regeneration, as well as the Church of Martel and Mithos' journey). Zelos doesn't particularly care for fiction.

31. Zelos has only ever been truly drunk once in his life. He's faked it a lot more than that. As far as alcohol goes, he actually has a preference for wine, although he's usually up for just about anything. He's more or less a social drinker, although he's very aware of what his true limits are and keeps himself well below that point. Like with most things, he's smarter than he'll let you give him credit for.

32. Despite what he'd have you think, Zelos thinks very little of himself. He's spent years completely believing his mother's words, and between that and everyone constantly telling him how much more competent a Chosen Seles would have been, he feels pretty low on the importance scale. ♥

33. He's an atheist. He was never overly keen on the Church of Martel, but it all pretty much ended when his mom died. Any "goddess" who would allow such suffering wasn't one worth believing in. It didn't help that he never got along with the Pope, oftentimes being the sole obstacle in some very discriminatory laws against half-elves.

34. Every year, right around the time of her death, Zelos goes to the cemetery to visit his mother's grave. He goes late at night, and stays there until morning. He tells her what's been going on over the past year, and eventually falls asleep next to her grave. Every time, he wakes up to the same nightmare.

35. The wooden sparrow that Phoenix got Zelos for Christmas is sitting on his dresser. The thought behind it still makes him smile (it's meant to trigger a realization of self-worth).

BONUS: He has a crush on Phoenix. And if he has his way about it, no one will ever know this ever~. NOT EVEN EDGEWORTH. D:

...granted, that's not to say that Phoenix is the only person he likes, but he's probably most prominent at the moment. :D;

35 of them, as a matter of fact. XD; Yes, I jumped on the 35 bandwagon too, apparently.
