[Although this is definitely Vincent's userID, the voice that comes over the line is distinctly not his: It's higher, less cultured, less pained, and his words are spoken slower. The accent is the same, the vocabulary, but the voice itself is very, very different.]

*Wasn't he asking before about...*
...Nirvana?

Nirvana.
[Deep breath, he lets it out slowly. The exhale sounds supremely relieved.]
I thought it through. The exchange was...
[Difficult? Unpleasant? Stupidly sentimental?]
...nothing I can't replace.

He's wearing a t-shirt that would fit better on Heidigger, one shoulder visible through the overwide collar before he pulls it back up and orders coffee and whatever breakfast is today. A pair of rainbow tye-dye shorts keep him decent enough to be seen in public, and his bare toes curl around the horizontal bar of the stool he's settled in a few away from Vincent.]

You know, it wouldn't be difficult to procure a percolator for your quarters.
[His tone is still more or less neutral, but there's an edge of amusement to it. It's...really nice to be able to feel that without worrying about what it could trigger.]

[Reno's tone is dry, and there's a touch of annoyance before he gives Vincent an odd look. He's pretty sure he's seen this guy somewhere before...or someone that looks sorta like him. Probably from the comm's or something. The thought is put away when a large cup of coffee arrives.]

[He shrugs lightly, facing forward again.]
You take far too much enjoyment from getting into trouble to willingly hole yourself up for any extended period of time.

Sometimes it's best not to remember. [A pause.] What did you do, Vincent Valentine?
[It's only after the question left his mouth that Tseng realises how much he probably sounds like Veld.]

[He gives a very quiet sigh.]
This is one thing that's meant to be remembered.

The man in blue is strikingly different from the man in red. Without his otherworldly aura Vincent looks almost childlike. Overexposed. Human.
Tseng approaches, sliding another chair over to the table, sitting down to face this strange image of the past, still with the eyes of its present self.
Delusional. It's not Tseng's place to judge, but he does regardless.]
Is this change permanent?

[Vincent's response is simple, honest. As much as he wishes he could go back to being what he used to be, Vincent knows he would never have gone through with this if it were permanent. That would be running away.]
I have forty-eight hours. Starting earlier this morning.
[Another drink, and then he turns to look at Tseng, brown eyes through short black hair. Even his facial structure is different, not half as gaunt as usual, the faint indentations of his skull much harder to pick out through the layers of skin and muscle. He searches Tseng's face for a moment before continuing.]
...You disapprove.

[He might be smiling, from the tone of voice.]
I'm impressed you recognized my voice.

[Baww. He missed his voice. He's gonna miss it more when he loses it again.]
