Billy, despite arguing about how nobody in their right mind should already be thinking about Christmas with Rachel, was losing the battle with his mood. It had steadily gone downhill since that morning, and he realized that maybe he shouldn't have bought that magazine, but doing destructive things to it was cathartic

Barney was just opening the door when he heard Billy's giggle. He had been at work all day and was ready to relax with a Scotch, maybe hit up MacLaren's later. When he heard that odd little giggle, he decided that might not be a good idea.

"Uh..what's up Hollister?" He asked, putting down his brief case.

"Uh, just, uh..." Billy hadn't really expected--though he should have. He fiddled with the lighter in his hand. "Just, uh, y'know. I'm gonna...you won't like it."

With that, he dumped the rest of his drink on the offending magazine and used the lighter to set it ablaze.

Barney stood there for a moment not sure he was really processing what was going on. Did Billy just set fire to his coffee table!? Barney ran to the kitchen and tried to find a cup..damn him and not having any containers. Giving up, he ran out to survey the situation.

"What are you doing?!?"

"It's," he motioned to the small fire, "it's, it's, you know, the table won't burn, I don't think it'll burn. I mean...I mean, if it does, you can get another, but I don't think it will. It's...are the smoke alarms gonna go off?"
