What subject? It can differ a lot between departments and since everyone is pigeonholed into a specific subject before they join in the UK it can have a big effect.
Notts in general is great, I did undergrad psychology there and now doing post-grad research there.
Through the exchange program you can only apply to one department (you guys call them 'faculties'), so I chose history. i'm limited as to what i can take.
i'm definitely more artistic/musical than logic/scientifically minded. and i go to school now in the middle of a rural area, which i hate. i know mmu is in the middle of the city but what about nottingham? is it at least near a city? and how big are these schools? i want to meet lots of people. my school is soooo small- 5,000 undergrad. and the town is boring. boo
From my rather limited exposure to some of my friends who do history/politics in Nottingham, it has a not insignificant reputation. The main campus is about 20 minutes away from the city centre by bus and is not overwhelmingly big, but big enough to always have little bits to discover and explore I think!
Also, given the size of the city and the fact that two universities are nearby (Nottingham Uni and Nottingham Trent), I found it a very studenty town indeed, don't think you could say it was boring. It also has a lovely concert hall and opera house.
i'm a politics student and first year i took a lot of history modules. the professors were really helpful and i found all the courses to be interesting and challenging. Nottingham Uni has a good reputation for the humanities, but also for the sciences, business etc. the campus is beautiful and the school is huge (i think there's like 30,000 people in the school). it's really diverse and international as well. by the way, what is MMU?
