It had been a long day. A long day that had thankfully included a break for a shower and a change of clothes, but a long day nonetheless.

Angel was sitting on a chair by his bed, his feet propped up on his desk. He was looking at Callisto thoughtfully.

"Puppets. Some people think puppets are funny."

It was hard to stalk off from someplace, like, say your room, when you didn't have any direct direction to be stalking off in. One quick and not entirely combobulated decision later, Xander decided he might as well at least clean up the few remaining threads of things from last night that he wanted to think about. Like stuff he had loaned out and never gotten around to coming back for.

He knocked on the door of Angel and John's room. And breathed through his nose a lot.

Angel opened the door.

And then stared.

Xander actually had enough presence of mind -- well, no, it was probably just instinctive reaction to Angel's presence -- to roll his eyes. The whiteboard, which was back to "Never. Speaking. Again." was soon wiped and re-written, then held up:

"I was thinking digital camera," Angel replied.

Xander rolled his eyes again, and reached into his pocket, holding up a cellphone, but not handing it over yet.

"I just - not that I'm arguing this development at all, but - " Angel tilted his head, curious. "Why?"

"Okay, lemme rephrase the whole question," Angel said. "Why should I not hit you with that whiteboard?"

Xander...probably looked like he was hainving to think about it for a second. This is mostly because he was.

Even drunk, Rory was always a very good reader.

And so when she toddled over to say hi to Xander, she carefully read his whiteboard nice and loudly. "I've had a crappy evening, and really, really, really deep down, you're a nice guy?" she read in what might constitute her 'outside voice.' "Awwwww. Poor Xa-xander. But at least you have a good friend like Angel!"

From his perch on Alanna's shoulder, Faithful snickered. Loudly.

Xander banged the whiteboard against his head several times, then, since that had done a pretty good job of cleaning it off, scrawled on it and held it up to Rory.

Rory blinked. "I dunno. Think it's where it was yesterday. I didn't do anything with it. Mine's prob'ly still here. We could have waffles." Her eyes went wide. "We should have waffles."

She looked at Xander. Sort of. "I'm a lil bitty bit drunk, I think. Maybe?"

Xander eyed her, and might have grinned in spite of himself. If so, no one will ever know, due to the duct tape.

He held up his board.

"Only a tiny bit," Rory said firmly, nodding.

And nodding.

And nodding a little more, to the point where she would have fallen over if she hadn't braced a hand against the wall. "Why is your mouth shiny?"

There was no way he was answering that with any level of background information. Not that he thought Rory coud process it if he did. Not that he could process it if he did. Not that it would fit on the whiteboard anyway.
