I completely and totally agree with you. I listened to the Sarah Palin block on Talk of the Nation today and was horrified at what I'd heard. People don't get the big picture, and the articulate ones don't seem to be speaking up nearly enough (at least not on NPR -- my calls always get dropped when I try to call Talk of the Nation).

I think I'd like Scandinavia; I've never been.
