Vimes's hand tightened around the small box in his pocket as he slowly climbed the steps. The jeweler in Phedre Street had done an excellent job, in his opinion. Sybil would love it. He hoped ( Read more... )

"Yes?" she called out. Her voice was slightly muffled from the dragon-gear, but yes, it was coming from the direction of the pens.

Well, since we know we're ooc, I'm going to drop the annoying bloody parentheses, ok? Do you just want to know about Disc vampires in general, or what?

Um. Just in general, really. I know that they don't handle garlic well, probably not silver, and can turn into bats. Also know that they have obscenely long names, and can be returned from ashes by pouring blood on them. That's... About all I remember.

Well, if you want to look into it yourself, the books that have the most vampire activity are Carpe Jugulum, The Truth, and Monstrous Regiment. I'd suggest reading them, just because, hey, it's Terry Pratchett. *laughs* Most of the vampires that are main characters are Black Ribboners, who've sworn not to drink human blood. Instead, they transfer the cravings to something else. One, in particular, is addicted to coffee. They have meetings, where they drink cocoa and have sing-songs.

They seem to be able to train themselves to overcome their weaknesses, such as the religious symbol thing. It takes a lot of willpower, and only a few that I'm aware of have tried to do it.

They can fly without turning into bats, or at least, the Magpyres could (the slightly evil ones in Carpe Jugulum). They can control people by biting them, taking over their minds and such. However, the Black Ribboners would never do such a thing.

If you have any questions, ask, and if I think of anything else, I'll let you know. *Grins*
