Marcus had spent half the handwavy day playing pool with his brother.

Though really, he'd more accurately spent half the day getting his ass handed to him at pool by his brother. Which felt just like old times. "You always that good?"

"Always," Rafe replied, with a quick grin. "And in case you missed it, while I was busy kicking your ass you forgot to tell me what this place is. Or what you're doing here."

It took Marcus most of the block to reply and they turned onto Loon Drive as he answered. "It's a school." He pointed. "Looks like a castle, but it's full of kids. Town gives them somewhere to go."

He deliberately didn't answer the 'what are you doing here' part of the question. Hard to answer when he didn't know.

And Rafe noticed, but he didn't push. Not yet. "Sounds...boring. And irritating as hell."

"Boring, yeah, but the kids..." He lifted one shoulder. "The ones who come by the junkyard are okay."
