Then there's trapping Alaric in the witch house as they go to the sacrifice to try and save Jenna and Elena and Caroline. There are so many things wrong with this. While it is dangerous for Alaric to go as the only non-powered being, the fact that they're taking Alaric's agency away from his just rubs me in all the wrong ways. If the genders of the characters were switched there'd be huge fallout from feminists and issues of female agency, but because it's Bonnie doing it to Alaric, there seems to be less issue with it. But there Bonnie is, taking away someone else's freewill and it's just so appalling to me. I would just like to point out that you're condemning Bonnie for something that (A) she did not do alone (Damon was obviously involved in that decision) and (B) Every single character has done to someone they cared about since the series began. How many times have Damon and Stefan "protected" Elena against her will? How many times did Caroline lie to Matt to do the same thing. And these were people that they were emotionally
( ... )
I'm sorry, I think you lost me at hating Bonnie because she's a good person who isn't good enough as opposed to a bad person who doesn't care if they're good or not.
So I loved Bonnie originally, hated her late S1/early S2...now, IDK! Your meta helped me decide - what I love is how fearless and fierce she is and how her first loyalty is to Elena, not because she is in love with her Stefan!Damon!Style but because they are friends, but can I get over her former behaviour...
FLAWLESS META AND PICSPAM :D I love Bonnie so much; her reaction to Caroline at first made me sad, but makes sense, given her characterization and how she's only been exposed to the worst sides of vampires, and she eventually grows past it (I still wish we could have gotten more development in that relationship and seen how they repaired it). And yes, I don't ship Jeremy/Bonnie at all either, but I still love Bonnie and don't think that ship is a reason to dislike her.
Yeah, I would have liked to see more of Caroline and Bonnie repairing their relationship, it would've been sweet to watch it happening instead of just getting an episode later without much development. But in the end I like how she was able to get over it. =]
