Wobbly joints

Aug 02, 2012 06:19

Oh, I have hypermobility in some of my joints. Ankles, knees, toes, fingers, shoulders. This is a large cause of my foot, ankle and knee pain. It also explains why I trip a lot as my joints aren't stable. So that was interesting and explains why I can bend my feet in sch weird ways and why my joints crack ALL THE TIME.

What does it mean? Can physical therapy help?

Basically, I'm a bit bendy which causes me foot and ankle pain. My calf muscles are then tight and shortened from holding my joints stable. I've got some exercises to do to help reduce the pain and lengthen the muscles.

When I'm older I'm more likely to have arthritis. On the other hand, women with hypermobilty tend to have shorter labours, so fingers crossed (and mine go really crossed!).
