Luckily the clouds from earlier had cleared up, leaving the night sky cloudless. The moon was up, sure, but it was only a waning crescent so unless you looked near it, its light wasn't too strong

Jack was there too, presumably to supervise, but mostly to hang out and do something other than sitting in his room. "What's different this time?"

"If I tell you all the time then you'll never be able to figure it out by yourself," Bobby told him, not looking up from the notebook he was trying to write in.

"They're stars. They twinkle. That's all I need to know."

[notlikejack]

"Until you need to find your way with them," he pointed out, shaking his head. "It's kind of cool that they really do twinkle though."
