I was talking with a family member about such things of Thanksgiving. I feel strongly that holograms are not going to catch on. I think we will see them more in gaming, but I doubt they will catch on there much either. The reason is... storytelling.

The traditional human "story" is based on telling a story... not so much about putting you in the story. You put youself in the story. But with 3-d, you can't help but be sucked in to the story as a player... as a character.

Okay, sure there can be 3-d media that is at an arms lentgth... where you are not IN the story, but where the story is in 3-D still. But in general, I think storytelling as a human art is a 2-d, at arm's length experience.

Non traditional, immersive story telling will become more prevalent and easy to do, but I don't think it will take over for movies and books.

That is my 2 cents.

Then again, I also predicted that MP3s wouldn't take off and that album-oriented music would come back.
