Takaki looked at Daiki queerly while the latter was throwing temper tantrums. He sighed, knowing for a fact the reason why Daiki has been miserably breathing when they were left alone in the dressing room.

A few weeks ago, Yuya and Daiki went out. Takaki thought it was just the usual hang out but it turned that the younger one had a present coming.

From afar, Daiki was writing something on the sand while Yuya was on the edge of the seashore enjoying the splashes of water on his feet. Wondering where his friend might be, Yuya looked behind him and spotted the latter on his knees with a stick. “Daikingu.” He chuckled and, being a person who loves to pull a jerk out of his friends, Takaki planned to read the thing Daiki was writing and push him on the sand if he found it corny.

Careful, Takaki slowly made his way behind Daiki and read what’s on the sand. He gasped dead pan and his eyes were wide yet unable to believe his vision.
“Takaki Yuya, I love you. Please be my lover.”
Daiki shrugged and when he did, Yuya froze because somehow he’s afraid that the younger guy would look to where he left him and would be surprise to see an empty sea. Of course, Takaki couldn’t manage to get back to his original position in a split second. Yet he was relieved when Daiki continued whatever he was doing.
“Nope. Lover doesn’t sound cute!” Daiki said to himself, oblivious of Yuya behind him. “Umm. Please be my girly-boyfriend?” He considered this. “No. Too long. And besides, Yuya is taller, older and” he paused to let out an adorable giggle, “manlier.”
While Daiki was deciding on what romantic name would he put to replace the word “lover”, a debate between Yuya’s rational mind and undeceiving heart transpired and ironically it didn’t help much on how Yuya is supposed to render his decision - if he ever comes up on one.
Daiki let out a satisfied “yeah” when he finally had the word “boyfriend” on the sand. He was startled when a voice hovered behind him.
“Let’s go.” Takaki said.
“How long have you been there?” Daiki bit his lower lip, waiting for a reply. Empty wind echoed and he realized that Yuya will not respond. “Where are we going?”
“We’re going back to Tokyo.” Yuya said, surprised that he managed to firmly respond. “I thought I would stutter.”
“But it’s not yet done!” Daiki argued and stood to face the older guy.
“It is, and I do not approve!” Yuya glared at the latter.
“What do you mean you do not approve?” Daiki asked innocently with a controlled average tone of his voice.
“It’s just, Dai-chan, it wouldn’t work out!” Yuya said sounding annoyed.
“What? Yuya! We hadn’t even tried it!” Daiki pleased.
“We don’t need to.”
“Shut up!” Daiki scrambled for the necklace on his pocket and when his hand found it, he closed the gap between them. “I love you, Yuya.” He offered the necklace with a bright yet pretentious smile denying Yuya’s harsh reaction.
Unconsciously, Takaki had pushed Daiki on the sand drastically, making the sand spatter all over him. “Ouch!” Daiki winced and rubbed his eyes due to sand infiltrating it.
“I’m sorry!” Yuya wanted to help Daiki up but he resisted.
At the moment, Daiki wished that Yuya would come at his position and blow the dirt out of his eyes, apologizing and confessing at the same time. But Yuya stood stubbornly still, which made Daiki blinked several times to keep his vision fine.
“I love you, Takaki Yuya. I love you ever since I met you!” Daiki confessed with his eyes too red and his heart too torn yet hopeful.
Yuya looked at the necklace Daiki dropped below his feet when the latter fell. Its pendant was a star which resembles his favorite ring and it’s similar to Daiki’s left-pierced ear earring. Yuya knew too well what he feels toward Daiki; an extraordinary love. It’s just that Yuya is not confident.
“Sto-stop it!” Takaki said reluctantly.
“Let’s try it!” Daiki insisted and stoically stood.
“I told you, we don’t need to!”
“Why, Takaki?!” Daiki almost cringe.
“I - I love someone else!” Takaki screamed which made an astounded Arioka.
“Liar!” Daiki hesitantly accused. “You are lying, Yuya. I know you love me!” his red eyes due to sand penetrating through it was now replaced with red eyes due to welling up with painful tears. He ran to the latter, buried his head on his chest while desperately and simultaneously hitting the older guy’s chest with his closed hands, repeatedly demanded Takaki to love him back with tears continuously free flowing.
“Tell me that you love me, Takaki.” He continued on hurting the latter. “Tell me. Tell me you love me. You love me. I know you love me!”
Yuya repressed his tears. He couldn’t blink because he knew if he did, any moment now he’ll cry in unison with Daiki. Arioka forced this grueling fact to seep inside his nerves but he was so persistent, he knew there’s still hope so he forcibly kissed Yuya’s lips. Yuya felt Daiki’s tears of utter pain on his cheeks and began to apologize to him on his mind.
“I’m so sorry, Dai-chan. I feel like you don’t deserve me. I’m such an idiot, am I not?” Yuya wanted to say these words but he kept intact and felt the lips on his, frightened that it’s their last first kiss.
“Now tell me what do you feel?” Daiki abruptly asked, when he broke their lips apart still crying.
“No-nothing.” Yuya recoiled.
“Stop lying, Yuya please. I’m pissed already!” Daiki shrieked.
“Uh, yeah. I felt something.” Yuya tried to find that one word that will make Daiki worry about every single thing he did and regret his love for him.
The innocent Daiki, half-relieved, smiled on Takaki and demanded Yuya to tell him what the latter felt.
“It’s disgusting!” The last thing Yuya felt was a throbbing right cheek with a bleeding corner of his lips; Daiki had punched him and left.
Takaki was numbly lying on the sand; screaming, crying and pathetically laughing at his stupidity, cowardice and regrets.
“I love you very much, Arioka Daiki. I’m sorry.” He wrote it down on the sand below Daiki’s confession and left the sea while the sun is setting gloomily.

Takaki looked at Daiki queerly while the latter was throwing temper tantrums. He stood up and announced that he’ll leave the latter alone before anything unexpected happens. Daiki scowled; apparently he doesn’t want to talk shit with Takaki as much as he doesn’t want Takaki to leave the room. Daiki watched Takaki walk to the door on the mirror adjacent to it when something flaunty reflected on it. Between Yuya’s neck and chest, a necklace with a star pendant similar to his left-pierced ear earring and Yuya’s favorite ring glimmered. Finally, Arioka Daiki smiled.
