Harry didn't even know how to respond. Hermione's voice was so contrite that he doubted any words he could say would work but, then again, the right words had never been easy for him in any type of situation ever.

Letting out a long, silent exhale, Harry slowly withdrew one of his hands from his pockets and wrapped an arm around Hermione's shoulders. "It's okay," he said with what he hoped was a reassuring smile. "It's going to be okay."

"I think we have a long way to go in order to consider things okay." She said that sentence as a soft fact and not as an arguement and dug into her pocket, pulling out the paper telegram that she'd received. The man delivering it, looked shocked at the fact that she was living in a run down house that no one ever approached ( ... )

Harry hadn't been sure what she had been referring to exactly when she first spoke but decided to not dwell on it once seeing the telegram from Penelope in her hand. He had yet to even see Penelope since he had come back; hadn't even thought about her for more than a few seconds during the entire time he had secluded himself in his room. Harry swallowed roughly as the all too familiar feeling of guilt began to creep up the back of his throat ( ... )

With his arm still around Hermione's shoulder, he watched the Threstrals in silence for a few moments before laughing quietly as a memory came back to him.

"You don't have to go into detail about what happened between you and Michael, it's all right. As Sirius once told me, 'It's good to have no regrets; it only proves you didn't give a toss what others thought about how you ran your life.' Just --" He paused, turning his eyes directly to her. "Promise me you'll tell Ron some time soon. Not now with -- with everything going on but, you know what I mean." Bugger, he thought to himself. He was dreadful at this friendly advice thing more than he realised and mildly grimaced.
