Prom night

Kate had on her new prom dress, makeup, jewelry all set to go. Her hair was pulled up and back with a few tendrils hanging down the back. Her and Will were just outside the entrance to the stately country club where the event was being held.

She glanced over at him, and kissed his cheek, "Here we go."

Its a very impressive place and Will keeps adjusting the tux, it feels oddly constricting,

"Oh aye, 'ope I do e'erythin' right."

"Pleasure to meet ye all an I'm na really from 'ere, from Nottingham."

Will pulls out Kate's chair and sneaks a kiss on her neck before sitting beside her.

Kate whispered to Will as the small chat and conversations started up again, "I didn't want to tell them too much. Like the time and Robin, you know?" Even though her world was decidedly odd, time travel was still an oddity to most typical people who didn't move in superhero circles.

"Oh aye, figured to tell 'em same thing told to yer Da."

He smiles as they start to talk, everything seems so light compared to what he knows.

Her hand touched his, and another song started a few minutes later. Some of the couples including some at their table got up to dance. A slow song by the sound of it.

"Want to?"

"Aye."

With a bow and a kiss to her palm, he lifts her up and towards the dance floor.

The couples on the floor were close, but it was clearly not like at the club. Not with the chaperoning teachers standing off to the sides, occasionally drinking punch, and watching the students.

Still Kate drew her arms up around his neck as they started to sway to the music.

Will grins and keeps her as close as he can,

"Ye look so lovely."

"Thanks. You're really handsome you know. Why some of the looks you're getting in here. Not used to seeing someone like you."

"What do ye mean, someone like me? Dinna think look that different from other fellows 'ere just more scarred is all."

Kate shook her head and whispered to him, "It's something else. But it's a good thing. Trust me, some of the people around here. They're cookie cutter snobs, all that matters is money and getting the biggest newest thing."

She added before leaning up to kiss him again, "You're different, and I love you for it."

He's glad to kiss her though he does whisper,

"Wish ye to 'xplain more just dinna understand yet."

"Ever heard of the expression 'Born with a silver spoon in the mouth?' I've been accused of it. Some here live it. They had everything given to them, never struggled to survive, never worked. And then they expect it to always be that way. To get whatever they want."

Granted she too frequently demanded what she wanted, even if her mother made sure she was aware of those less fortunate even as a young child.

"Oh aye, know what ye mean, tis 'ow the nobles are at 'ome. Ye're na like that though."

"Some things don't change, Will."

Kate then replied with a soft smile just for him, "Mom taught me better that's all. Never take it for granted."

"Oh nay, dinna know when ye might lose it all."
