Took the kits to the Humane Society today for their check-up. The consensus: Oliver is still too sick and too small to be adopted, and while Ramona is over two pounds, the vet wants to make sure she's absolutely recovered from the URI before sending her out into the world. When Ruby was a kitten, the vet tech said something like, "Ooh, you're an orange kitty, you'll never behave!" in a playful way. I really like how orange cats are . . . They're my favorites. I've heard calicos are a little high strung, too. But yeah, Ruby was nippy and bitey and scared of stuffed animals and would come in the shower with me and had all these kitten quirks when she was little. She's pretty mellow now. But it's funny how cats all have these very obviously unique personalities. I'm glad we have Wheatie because he loves getting beat up on by the baby, while the others don't, and the baby looooooves abusing any kitty within reach.

Maybe Ramona will mellow out when she gets older. I think she's been getting more mellow, but today she did bite me so hard that it actually really hurt, instead of me just pretending. I put her in the cage for a time-out, but she just ate food and went to sleep, so I don't know if she got that it was a time-out. Well, it kept her from biting me anyway :)
I hear so many stories about people who give up their cats once they have kids because they're worried about the cat hurting the baby. I'm glad Hester likes the kitties so much!

I don't know if I'd be quick enough to catch any kitty with a squirt gun. I chase them down and put them in the cage for a time-out if they get too rambunctious.
