The Iraq Study Group Report

Jan 30, 2007 20:38

I know. You don't want to hear the policy prescriptions of a bunch of foreign policy bumblers who aren't very good at paying attention to reality.

But this time, we get the real goods. A report done by someone who cares, who tries to get the facts, and who goes to Iraq to get them.

I'm sure Peggy Noonan is appalled.

I read about 40 pages of the thing, and I had to stop because I was so enraged.

The American Will to Fail is so colossal. I can't begin to fathom how many on the Left "support the troops but not the war." That's like someone saying they go to church because they like the pastor but not God.

Good analogy. Thanks.

My problem at the moment is noticing that the Congress is doing its level best to say to the enemy, "Don't worry, we don't mean it."

Precisely. I swear our enemies do a better job at war than we do, because they know our leftists are generally so fearful of actual confrontation with evil and of failure that they will do anything to keep from having to do so, including lose wars for fear of bad press, lose lives for fear of the reaction to reprisals, sacrifice credibility for the sake of... well, gaining credibility as "tolerant" or somesuch rigamorole, and allow ourselves to be Neville Chamberlained to death.
