Thank you, oh thank you! I will be posting this on my cube wall where it will continue to affect nobody but me.

U mad?

But really, while seeing this kind of grammatical error doesn't bother me nearly as much as it does for you and a lot of other people, what does bother me a great deal is when you try to educate someone on the correct usage and they insist that their way is correct. =P For example, some fifteen years ago, I worked with someone who kept insisting that the phrase "Your item's have reset" was correct. No matter how many times I tried to explain to him that the proper usage was without the apostrophe and even showed evidence in the form of grammar articles and such, he just wouldn't be bothered to fix it. =P Oh well.

Ahhh yes, the Save Your Breath Grammar Reform School. And yet, we persist in trying to fix the unfixable.

RAGE. I rant about this regularly, as I process official government documents FULL of extraneous or ill-placed apostrophes and wonder what moron making twice what I do is writing said documents.

I usually let it go. This week I was given the task of proofreading the new procedure manuals for work. The writer fails the apostrophe test repeatedly, and I shan't jeopardize my job by screeching at her. At least she's at an appropriate place in the pay ladder!

OMG this. I work in retail. There are horrible mechanical and grammatical errors in our company handbook, and frequent spelling errors in our signage and publications. Our store manager frequently asks me how to spell things and sends e-mails to our DM which are totally devoid of punctuation and capital letters. It makes me want to scream.

A friend of mine on Facebook uses commas in place of apostrophes. It drives me barmy.
