The Rockets were defeated! Peace has returned to the pokemon world! ...except not. While you both did a good job of kicking them in the face and making a dent, it didn't mean they'd be gone forever. But Atem knew it wouldn't really end with them. And besides, it's taking them a very long while to build up their forces again. So he's ready for some ( Read more... )

Atem might use the word vacation. Kaiba considered it preparing for the next salvo. He had taken to picking up various part time jobs whenever they stopped near a town, collecting some extra money while continuing to train his pokemon in the evening. Whenever it was safe to return to his brother, he would have to be able to make a home. Training money, while lucrative, wasn't going to be enough, especially if he didn't collect the last badge and challenge the Elite Four. Unfortunately, it also limited his time with Atem. When his traveling partner turned lover just up and left, it made his heart drop. Team Rocket had done much to force them together. He didn't want to acknowledge how much Atem's absence hurt...but perhaps it was inevitable. Without that common enemy, all the incentive Atem had to stay was him. It wasn't a promising idea.

The message that came later, delivered by a Pidgey who took great pleasure in fluttering about the brunet's head, was alternatively a relief and infuriating. Atem had bothered to contact him. But he ( ... )

JUST DON'T MOVE AND HE'LL BE FINE. POKEMON LAW. note_atem December 27 2011, 05:41:46 UTC
Somehow, in all his long years of doing this, battling, journeying... Atem had never once fathomed someone using their pokemon to attack others. There was no way he could have defended the onslaught, either. Pokemon were entirely too fast for a human to try and outdo. The attack had been taken with wide eyes.

And now he was only too sure he was going to die. Every beat of his heart sent the poison coursing further through him. His veins were burning inside. He couldn't see much-

But Kaiba's voice caused him to try and tilt his head in the appropriate direction. Didn't that man ever listen?

The kid didn't have much time to react, either. And he certainly wouldn't be able to see the 'taste of your own medicine' aspect of this situation when he was being blasted off his feet and into a tree. Atem's belt and pokedex were dropped.

FLYING DOESN'T COUNT AS MOVING shutupandduelme December 27 2011, 05:57:21 UTC
Blue eyes narrowed sharply at the dropped objects. A robbery? Had this fool actually dared to strike Atem himself? One of his hands tightened into a fist.

"Lugia," he said, his voice now an icy fury, "wash him away. Drown him. Hydro blast." The command given, he stopped paying attention. The fool was beaten already. But Atem...

The brunet strode toward the fallen trainer, though there was a hint of urgency in his movement. "So what kind of nonsense have you gotten yourself into now?" He asked coolly. "I think I am growing tired of dragging you out of your problems."

BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO TAKE A FEW STEPS TO GET TO A POKECENTER RITE note_atem December 27 2011, 06:01:42 UTC
The kid was half-conscious at this point and had no idea what was going on anymore. He'd taken down one of the strongest trainers! Things were going to be perfect after that! Any more attacks would only continue to down him further until he lost consciousness completely.

Atem struggled as Kaiba neared, and struggled hard. He was having a problem moving, parts of his body going numb. He was at least determined to get off his hands and knees. "Poison..." The word was grated, said through clenched teeth as he turned over on his back. His eyes closed then, the already bruised and bleeding mark on his neck visible now; that of a stinger having pierced his flesh.

Silly Atem, your friend cares about you too much to let you fight evil villains alone! And you know that he'd risk his soul life for you, you're just that important to him.

The shorter due-I mean Pokemon trainer followed Atem's footsteps carefully, searching for his dearest friend. One of his Pokemon, a Flaaffy, eagerly followed, also wondering where Atem was, since every Pokemon of Yugi's liked him (and every other Pokemon ever, amirite).

He thought that he heard voices, one of them definitely Atem's. Moving closer, he heard the other yell out in pain before falling to the ground. Ignoring the kid because Atem was a much higher priority, he rushed over, with his fluffy little sheep buddy right behind him. "Atem!" He kneeled down, pulling the other close. "Are you okay? What happened?" His Flaaffy nuzzled Atem's side and baa'd worriedly.

Damn it. He knew that they shouldn't have parted. Guilt forever, this is all his fault, etc.

POKEPOSTS ARE FUN note_atem December 27 2011, 18:20:49 UTC
Seeing that no one was going to tail him or attack him, the kid took off rather quickly. He had all he needed now. He could make a fortune off the champion's best pokemon and retire quietly. So he slunk off into the shadows as the other worried over the downed trainer.

"Yugi.." No one listened to anything, did they. He couldn't see where the kid went and that meant he still could have been hanging around. He'd be damned if he let Yugi get caught in this predicament too. "Go home." He hissed out, more in pain than upset at the other.

Atem's hissing wasn't very effective...

He only pulled Atem closer, more worried than he already was. "No. You need my help. Now tell me what happened." He was definitely worried about the other's stolen Pokemon, but he could never leave Atem out here to die. He would never forgive himself for it.
