My free gift of Paid LJ account ends this week, and now I face the important life-altering decision of whether or not to re-up my Paidliness. I always swore I'd never ever pay for LJ, but...I am so attached to my icons. I can't bear the thought of losing half of them. How terribly, terribly dreadful. $20 per year...that's not the worst thing ever, ( Read more... )

Oh, I SO agree! I hate all the maintenance teeth alone requires! And going to the dentist.. and the sound of their tools. Yeeecccchhh!

What's Abiword btw? I definitely want to do more creative writing too, aside from reviews and such.. I have so many things on a list - I'm participating in the 101 things in 1001 days.. (I'm only up to 70 so far) but I have until 31st December to figure them out.. You should try it! :)

Abiword is a free, downloadable version of Word.

I've seen that challenge...I keep meaning to maybe, but...I dunno. Seems like it'd just leave me disappointed.

Wireless isn't a type of high-speed internet. You can buy cable or DSL or any other form of less popular internet service. All of these come with modems that provide the service. And then you buy a wireless router (and possibly a wireless card if it turns out that your laptop doesn't support wireless). The wireless router is then connected to your modem and allows you to use wireless.

That seems more expensive. But now I am confused. What is AT&T wireless then?

Nah, it's not really. I mean, you just buy the router and that's it. No extra monthly fees or anything.

And I honestly have no idea what AT&T wireless is :/

You need what I have....its one of those Reach flossing sticks (not the technical name of course). It looks like a toothbrush, but the end has floss which you can pop right between your teeth using your opposite jaw ----not as complicated as i'm making it sound I swear! haha. It really is easy and non-painful and I hate flossing too, but that thing makes it much less sucky.

And to second what someone else said....you need to go buy a wireless router. I prefer the Linksys brand which runs about $40-50 for a decent router. You plug your DSL or cable modem into that. I can't imagine you would need to buy a wireless card. All lappys worth their salt are going to be wireless capable these days.....

Wireless internet is not wi-fi, dear. It just means you have a router without wires. WOO.

Teeth are just meh to me now. I hate them.

And I don't know how many times I have to tell you this before it sticks, but you don't have to have a paid account to have more userpics, douchebag. It's half the price of a paid account, lasts just as long, and gives you only that feature which you desire to waste money on.

You tell me that, but I forget a lot. See how that works?

What is AT&T wireless internet service then? I'm confused.

It is wireless internet, in that there are no wires. There is a wi-fi card, methinks, but then, I've never had a laptop or the option, so I haven't really looked too hard into it.

"Add-on: Up to 100 Userpics

This add-on allows you to upload up to 100 userpics! Available to paid account members only."

You need to be a Paid Member to have this then? Or am I missing a different thing on that page.
