Iron kills fairies.

The part of the universe they were in was crumbling -- slowly, but accelerating -- under them, and there was a periodically discorporeal version of the Big Bad Wolf trying to eat them, or at least do considerable harm to them.

It was an interesting kind of day, Tony reflected, as he hit the repulsor power, putting considerably more juice into it than he usually did. The wolf thing was right behind them, inhaling with that preternatural, legendary breath, and it was proving tough to handle, especially since he'd just grabbed Chase and Peter to put an end to any arguments about who went first.

It could just mean they all got swallowed together. But then, then, with an extra burst, they hit the portal, experienced the mad, dizzying rush as the world tore apart and reformed around them, into the scrapyard, where they slammed into the ground and sprawled, Tony scrambling to get up, assess the surroundings.

Little messier, maybe.

And the nightmare of smoke and fur and claw was tearing through the portal behind them, forming into its more solid state, the one that he hadn't been able to touch with any kind of weapon. Driven by magic.

"Screw you-" Tony said, and aimed his left hand at it, fired a rocket, which it flowed around and absorbed.

The other he pointed dead right. At the portal device.

He fired a repulsor, blasted it apart. The portal shut down, cutting the wolf off from the rest of itself, from the world from which it came. It solidified, further, ceased to seem even slightly insubstantial, hard to focus on, became simply a monstrous wolf.

"-I'm a scientist."

The wolf exploded.
