Sam had taken a plane back to California. His car was still in the airport parking lot and he didn't even stop by his dorm room on his way to Costa Verde. He was still worried about Claire. There was something she wasn't telling him and he didn't know what. He was worried that she was hurt and hadn't wanted to tell him over the phone or via text

Claire had been telling Sam as much of the truth as she could give anyone. She was fine. Not hurt, not dead, not on the run. She was fine and she hated everything about it.

She heard the knock on the door and got up from her place on the couch, watching Mr. Muggles race up to the door. He wanted to know who it was, but she already knew. She was dreading having to lie to him.

She pulled open the door and forced a smile, trying to pretend that the last couple of days hadn't happened. "Hey."

"Hey," he responded. He was happy to see was indeed fine. He took a step inside and leaned down to hug Claire, lifting her off her feet in a bear hug.

"God I missed you," Sam whispered into her hair. "I was so worried."

"I'm sorry," Claire said quietly, tears filling her eyes at his words. She held onto Sam tightly, not wanting him to put her down. "I'm okay."

There was no danger of him putting her down when she was clinging to him like her life depended on it. "It's okay. It doesn't matter anymore. I'm here."
