[The TARDIS rematerialises, like it usually does, just outside the hospital. There's gold dust on the ground all around it, blown up into the air as the TARDIS comes back into full view.

Once it's done landing, the Doctor steps out, a little grin on his face.]

Or you could just, you know, punch me anywhere but the face. Be a bit more creative, sort of thing.

I'm not gonna hit you. I think it'd be a little hypocritical of me, all things considered.

[have a sigh, and a lopsided sort of grin.]

Maybe it would, maybe it wouldn't. But everything worked out for the best, in the end, eh?

[captaincy]

Everything worked out, at least. But you shouldn't make promises you can't keep.

I promised I'd stop the Daleks without any more of my friends dying, and that's exactly what I did. I never break a promise!

[captaincy]

Somehow I don't think everyone's quite as chipper about it as you.

There's always another way, if you look.

Not always. Sometimes self-sacrifice is unavoidable.

But it doesn't always have to be you. A little too on the side of the martyr, you are, these days.

[hugs are good. right now hugs are GREAT.]

[not very manly but what can you do.]

I don't know about that. You've gotta die to be a martyr.
