It does appear suspicious. Then again -- what guarantee do we have that any of the food this town provides is safe to eat?

Good point. Perhaps there is something I could do to make rehydrated food available in Mayfield.

[ ...whatever that means ] If at all possible, you'd be doing us a great service.

Well, it's something that's readily available in my home and actually helps keep the costs of food down. I can see about making something like that available for Mayfield.

[Mokou just comes up behind Diana, her lone arm tucked into a pants pocket.]

What are you doing?

Waiting for this turkey to attack us or do something inane. Want to watch with me?

Not really.

[She thinks.] I can just make the kid eat it. Test it out.

[Nall lands on Diana's shoulder and glares at the turkey.]

I don't blame you for being suspicious. Last year, they sent us turkeys too and it was freaky as heck.

I touched the darn bird and the entire house shook and I heard what sounded like a child crying and running. I looked through the entire house but didn't find anything.

... How very odd, I'll have to admit.

They gave us turkeys last year too. Each had some gimmick to them: some screamed when touched, some were filled with razor blades, others with poison.

I'm not eating the crap they're handing out.

That's how to go about it, honestly. I'm not going to eat it if I can help it.

Got a point there. If no one eats it, the town might force us too, or some weird thing.

It really is a double-edged sword.

Yeah it's definitely weird. I don't trust it.

Think we could, say, launch it into the sky and see how far it can go?

Sounds like a good idea to me. Let's just hope it doesn't explode or something.

Well, we could transmute into something...

[ Do you see where she is going with this, Ed. I hope you do. ]
