[Alfred is passing by with a cart full of foodstuffs and bags of charcoal! He's reading from a list and coupled with the tall stack the groceries made in the cart, he wouldn't really see her in time to avoid bumping into her. Literally.]

Gloves don't take a lot of material, but they're finicky. I don't have the patience to make them, myself. I remember my sister using about a quarter-yard, and still having some left over.
