[ooc; Backdated to January 1st since I was out of town and wanted to post something for Jaime.]I hope everyone had a good Christmas! I certainly enjoyed the gifts everyone gave me, and uh, Takuma? I really didn't know what to give you, so I won't mind exchanging it for something more conventional ( Read more... )

I've never heard of this "Epiphany" holiday. How do you celebrate it, Jaime?

I can only speak for my family, but on the night of January 5th, we'd leave our shoes outside our doors. And in the morning? The Three Magi would've left us some small presents in our shoes.

Milagro and I also left a bucket of hay and water for their horses and camels.

... Do you know the story of the Three Wise Men, Yomiko?

How thoughtful!

...they were the men who traveled to Bethlehem to witness the birth of Jesus, according the beliefs of Christianity as recorded in the Bible, correct? They arrived with gifts of gold, incense and myrrh, I believe...

That's right! Where I'm from, pretty much everyone's Catholic, but the Three Wise Men're more important to us.

It's kinda weird, talking about my religion like this, but I'd like to celebrate El Dia de Reyes with the kids around here.

Yeah. It's the end of the 12 Days of Christmas. In Mexico, where my family's from, we celebrate it with gifts from the Three Wise Men. They supposedly put presents in our shoes that morning.

It's a little like the whole Santa tradition if you've heard of that.

Huh. I don't think I've heard of anything like that... That I remember, anyway. Then again, I'm from Japan, not Mexico.

I'm not from Mexico either. My family moved to the USA from Mexico before I was born.

But yeah, I'm not surprised to hear that... Japan's not big on the whole Christianity thing.

Wow, your little sister sounds just like my big sister. I guess it doesn't matter how old they are, sisters are always going to be annoying and bratty!

We always clashed about stupid stuff like TV remotes, but she wasn't bad. I guess... if anything, girls are just moodier than we are?

That's all? Man, my sister acts like some professional shrink all the time. She keeps telling me "my parents are going to pollute my impressionable mind."

... That's gotta be rough. I don't remember too much about Milagro, but we've never had a big fight like that.
