I was thinking about this last night, actually, but got too frustrated with my sister's PC to try to comment on it. I think I've worked out why he's not on the right track and keeps espousing the wrong things in an earnest attempt to be an ally, as it were. The things he says are awfully similar to the things said on another LJ comm I'm in, which is very feminist, but it's something that's been going on for years and years and started from a group of friends, and as a result is largely made up of late 30's/early 40's women, who haven't really kept their ideas of feminism up to date as it's developed further. Because it has developed over the years, but not everyone has kept up with it ( ... )

And you're right. He needs an intensive course from someone who has the patience and is in the same time zone, because I totally would because he listens to me, but time zones bugger that.
