W-well, ah...

... people were disappearing, and the town had news reports that made it seem like they were murdered... they even made their rooms look like there was a murder.

I'm pretty sure the people that disappeared didn't really die... I was one of the "victims", and there was something about the news reports that made it obvious that I wasn't actually killed.

They were listing suspects, and people thought hunting down the right people would make the murders stop...

In the end, it just stopped on its own like previous events.
