Not a Good Week

Last week and a half was crammed with bad news: Thanksgiving went all right, had a nice visit/meal with Husband's Aunt. I'd planned to go visit Mom on Saturday, but Riza started acting up about 20 minutes into the trip. It started with the Cruise Control suddenly conking out; I tried a couple times to reset it, but it didn't take. A little later ( Read more... )

bad news, family, friends

Oy. Definitely do not attempt to use cranky cruise control... it's not unheard of for 'em to refuse to relinquish control and the only way out is to turn off the car (not fun at highway speeds). Sounds like that is actually what was happening, fortunately without the runaway-horses part.

Personally I won't use CC at all... tried once, gave my inner control freak hives, never used it again. I have no idea if CC on my truck even works, cuz not about to even try it with a 6000 pound behemoth!!

Hey, good to hear from my Moffet! Did that Montana wildfire come anywhere near you?

I think I found that old frizzled hard drive from years ago. Where should I send it, and how much do you usually charge to retrieve old documents/files?

I think the nearest fire was somewhere around 25 miles away... got lots of smoke, but I'm on a spit of land between where two rivers join, with a gravel pit and highway on the 3rd side, and would have to be the end of the world for a wildfire to reach me (unless it started practically next door, or the pipeline across the road blew up... when they test it, it sounds like a plane crash!)

I'll shoot you an email with my meatspace addy. How much? Merry Xmas. (And the cost of a flash drive, if I actually manage to recover a significant volume of data.)
