Feeling like I never have any fun anymore. What the hell happened to enjoying the simple things in life? Hanging outside with friends, riding bikes and skateboards all day, random trips to nowhere. Feeling like I haven't grown up but everyone else has ( Read more... )

Being a grownup is overrated. It's those people who can maintain their child-like joy in the simple things in life that are interesting and fun people to be around. Stick to your guns!

The hard part is finding others with a similar mindset and sense of fun to hang out with. :/

Oh, I hear you! As a stay-at-home mom, most of the people I end up seeing outside my immediate family during the day are other moms. They are always so serious, and so surprised when I join in the fun the kids are having when I have the opportunity! I try to live by George Carlin's dictum: If you're going to play, PLAY!

Yeah I don't think "going out to the bar" is a fun thing to do.. at all! It doesn't make sense to me. I'd rather just stay home and play video games. xD

Every time I tell one of my old friends we should hang out some time, he's always like, "Yeah, meet me at (this bar) at (whenever o'clock)." Nooooooo thanks. :/ Not that I don't mind having a drink once in a while, but I usually don't have fun socially drinking.

Sounds like you've officially "grown up." If your current friends haven't then you need to seek out some older folks. I really do know your frustration. I've always felt I was born a generation late. Or maybe it's reincarnation and I have the soul of a lost teen inside me? And yet, I associate very well with the generation after me. *shrugs* I love life and people, especially when none of it fits into the "norm" because then I feel "normal." Back to you... Try not to stress about it. Follow your desires and you'll be better off.
