Huerta Memorial Hospital, the Citadel, Wednesday Evening

Nov 05, 2014 17:36

Huerta Memorial was a crowded hospital. Salarian, human, turian and asari doctors milled around, chatting-- the atmosphere was tense. News of Earth's Reaper invasion had just arrived, and everyone was on edge. More so now that they were aware there was a war hero lying in one of the single rooms, though the room itself was well-guarded.

Shepard paused in the doorway. )

"So helpful, that one," Jack said dryly, watching Shepard go. "So friendly and polite, and you can tell he just wants to tell us everything."

He was angry. Angry, and scared, and worried, and -- was there coffee here? He needed coffee. Preferably well-laced with something stronger.

"I think he's looking at the bigger picture," Allie replied. She was willing to cut Shepard the tiniest bit of slack. And that was only because she understood the desire to want to do something...anything in the face of just waiting. "I guess that easier for him to deal with then sitting here."

"He doesn't need to sit here," Jack said stubbornly. "But we just almost all died together. You'd think we'd get more than two bloody words."

"Somehow I don't think words are really his thing," she said, thinking about the one-sided conversation she'd overheard while listening to the steady thrum of Kaidan's heartbeat.

"At least he got us here instead of dropping us at the nearest Portalocity terminal." Not that any of them would have let that happen without one hell of a fight.
