He closes the door, sets up the portable DVD player on the end table and flips up the screen.

He doesn't do anything with it right away. There's still time to turn back. You don't have to watch this...

No. I want to watch this. I need to see this. I want to get this the fuck over with and move on. I can't keep getting stuck on these nightmares. He ( Read more... )

Andres sits quietly, next to him, waiting. He reaches for Lee's hand and holds it comfortingly.

I hope this goes well.

He's actually finding himself rather curious as he's never seen a DVD before.

He squeezes Andres' hand and presses 'play.'

The opening theme and credits, for some reason, are especially difficult to watch...it puts such a fictional touch on things, makes it so very clear that it's not real.

"Previously on 24:

'The Americans have been able to shut down most of the reactors. I’m gonna have to manage the override personally. Make sure those six melt down on schedule.'"

He sets his jaw angrily. "That's Marwan," he informs Andres, indicating the man on the screen. "He masterminded the April 25 attacks."

The freeze-frames introducing key characters intrigue him. Jack, Tony, Michelle. He's aware that he's not really an important character.

Andres eyes the DVD player warily.

"That's just great." *Facetiously* "Do the others know as well? About the show I mean?"

Then he shuts up and continues watching.

"Yeah. But I don't think anyone else wants to watch it."

"The following takes place between 3 PM and 4 PM..."

He watches in silence for a little bit. It's almost as confusing to him as it might be to Andres...he's never been much for office gossip or intrigue and conspiracy-covering among the administrators. He's never even met Marianne Taylor. He could care less what Driscoll and Curtis have to say about her. But it's interesting to see them trying to cover their asses, plotting to hide things from Division...

His eyes narrow again as Navi Araz shows up. "That's Behrooz's father," he murmurs. "Psychotic bastard. No wonder the kid shot him." A pause. "That might be in this episode. Or the next one."

He sighs. "This is so unbelievably weird to watch. I just..." He rubs his eyes. "Thank you. For being here with me. I wouldn't have been able to watch this alone."

And it's only going to get worse.
