The nice thing about having a room to yourself was that you could do whatever the hell you wanted. Today Alana had a little bit too much restless energy to sit and read, so she played with her music app until it started blaring something that made her want to pogo madly and bounce off the furniture.

Dante was bored, and Alana was just down the hall-- and listening to something good, at that.

So it seemed perfectly natural to park himself in her doorway, rap his knuckles on the door, and go, "Hey, if it isn't my favorite planetary expat," he said, "Planning to tourist?"

Dante grinned, but he only half-shut the door as he came in. It'd be sad if the rest of the floor had to miss out on the Dead Kennedys, right? "You know what they say," he said merrily, "It's tough, kid, but it's life."

"'Holiday in Cambodia,'" Alana said, pausing for just long enough to double-check the display on her phone. "The band's called the Dead Kennedys. I just kind of clicked random songs until I got something that seemed stompy in a fun way."
