23rd Confession [Voice/Action]

[Fine, he tells himself-he might as well check out the journal; while he's normally on top of things (you never know what crazy shit's gonna go down), he's been pretty laid back, he'll admit. It's been calm, despite the last event. He's managed to just relax and take it as a small vacation, or some sort of half-assed blessing. Yeah, he'll go with ( Read more... )

[action] Vash gives up his room, he can say he got Amelia into his bed? thedicearecast May 10 2011, 02:20:41 UTC
[Amelia looks up from her own journal at the knock, her hand moving to the gun she keeps in reach.]

Who is it?

[Calling out, because he knows you're already tense enough as is.]

It's that preacher guy.

[Good move. But hey, she's trying. She didn't actually aim the gun this time?]

Oh. [Amelia goes to the door, unlocking it to let Wolfwood in.] Hey.

[He waves briefly.]

Hey. You settling in okay? Spray this place down enough?

[Lord knows you don't want to sleep among Vash Germs.]

I don't think that's possible.

[But she has gotten all new bedding, which helps a lot. Just then, in fact, since she can sit on the bed without freaking out after she picks up the journal.]

I'm settling okay. But I wanted to ask you something, if you're free?

... Ask me something?

[He leans against the door frame, raising an eyebrow.]

Sure; shoot.

[Relax, Wolfwood. It's not the you're-dead something, although, Amelia needs to get back to that. She's just focused on other problems right now.]

You said something about the spirits over the network. Does that mean they're real?

[Oh, he's expecting you to bring it up eventually. Just not sure when you're gonna' open up that barrel of unpleasantness. But he just relaxes at the question; at least it's something simple enough.]

That's right. I've been listening to the fire one, Eferin. Unfortunately.

[Lucky you that Amelia's avoiding the issue as well. Funny how easily it keeps getting pushed back.]

So you'd know how to use their power. Do you need to move to do it, or can you just think and have something happen?

[He'll avoid it 'til the ends of time, if you'd let him. 3:|]

Eeeh, it's mainly a mind thing. Talking with the spirit'll teach you how it works, but it's hard to explain until you actually work on it. Think of it as tapping into your focus.

That sort of thing. Even if it sounds crazy at first.

[Don't worry. She won't.]

What about this place doesn't sound crazy?

[But if it's really a mind thing, then Amelia can use it to fight against Legato. She's never been a spiritual person, but with that incentive, it's definitely worth looking into now.]

Where's the best place to start?

Nnnnot Eferin. I'd try for Nala first--she's the one who teaches you healing. Can be pretty handy when you're in a bind, I'm sure. I've been thinking of talking to her next, after I get this fire thing down.

[In theory it's a good idea, but Amelia quickly shakes her head.]

I need to start with one who can teach me offensive skills. Preferably quickly.

Why don't you like this Eferin one so much?

Well, I started learning from him when I was a kid.

[Wait, shit, she wasn't there for that.]

The Malnosso made me younger, and I thought I'd be tough shit by going to the spirits and learning what they could do; long story short, Eferin's got a fiery personality and we didn't mesh so well.

[Heh, he thinks about the cursing he's done already.]

You'll have to expect plenty of burns-though as long as you have a healer to take care of that, you'll be fine. Which is why learning Nala is probably a good first step, if you plan on chatting it up with Eferin.

[a beat]

You could always learn from the earth spirit. Or the lightning one.

[...yeah, Amelia looks distinctly confused at the kid remark. Good job Wolfwood.]

[But it gets pretty useful from then on, so Amelia's listening carefully. Eferin probably isn't a good idea for her, since she doesn't want to burden anyone else with this--or drag them into danger, should anyone uninvited show up.]

So I'd just have to find one of them?

Yep, that's all it takes. You'll find them around where they'd more than likely be. Eferin's a little tricky to find, but the water one'd probably be loudest around the lake or ocean. And the wind one'd be easier to hear out in the open fields, or near the mountains.
