I really wish they had done the story where Jake finds out his dad killed the Romulans while Odo found out his adopted scientist dad made the Changeling virus.

Julian can't help it. He was engineered to be like Luke Smith.

Yep, 31 definitely improves Starfleet

As for Janeway going crazy - Iit's accidental and due to behind the scenes politics and apathy, but it's interesting to note that this pretty much happens right after she discovers that her fiancee gave up waiting and married somebody else... Subconscious death wish, very much?

Section 31 makes it seem like they do occasionally get their hands dirty, even as the series flails about going "No no no, they're not proper Starfleet!"

I think it's Very Telling that of the five Trek captains only the woman one starts the series with a Significant Other, as though to reassure us that she won't be getting any action. Anyway, by then she and Seven of Nine were deep into their affair.

Hmm Dark Frontier is the best episode of Voy. The epic angst of Seven leaving Janeway for the Borg Queen and then Janeway going back to get her....AWESOME

I always think of the Borg Queen as part of a love triangle about who most deserves Seven's Borgy love.

Totally agree about Janeway. Captain Bligh (or possibly Ahab) in space would have been interesting, but accidentally making the Captain go insane is a bit careless, show.

It's odd, though not actually in a bad way - in fact, it's quite a clever bit of writing - that Julian is fascinated with spies in am 'I fantasise about being Bond' way, yet very uncomfortable with the reality.

Plus he is in love with Garak The Spy.

It was greatly saddening when the show's writers finally caught on to the homoerotic subtext that Robinson and Siddiq were deliberately putting into their interactions and stopped giving their characters as many scenes together.

Was that why? How stupid of them!

I just assumed that Janeway's mental was meant to be some sort of overacting to compensate for the comatose Chakotay of the latter seasons. Eesh, the man is the textbook defintion of "phoning it in"

They should have killed Chakotay off. Horribly. None of this heroic sacrifice shit, he should have fallen out an airlock by accident.
