Stopped by a VW dealer today, to look at an ID.4. It has the flaw that all modern cars have of just too much fancy garbage. Like, in order to turn on the reading light you just touch it, but since there's no tactile feedback, it makes a clicking sound. But, that clicking sound doesn't come from the light, it comes from the audio system of the car.

It gets to Santa Cruz and back on one charge, which is what we needed for college drop off/pick up.
We just took it on our first "we have to charge before we can get back" trip up to the Hetch Hetchy part of Yosemite (from SF.) The charger at the hotel was slow but gave us plenty of range so we didn't worry on the way back. And the way back started with such a long downhill that we added more range before getting onto the highway.
The added sounds of all kinds annoy me too. The start up song. The shut down song. The added noise when it is going slowly. The backup beep. Ugh!
But it has my #1 most favorite feature: heated seats
