01. Ring
Roland grinned, taking the chunky ring from the suddenly sheepish Dorian, "Where'd you get this hunk of shit," he asked jokingly, "The quarter machine outside of Wal-Mart or a Cracker Jack box?"
02. Hero
"Look, fuck it -- I don't need you to play hero," Dorian snapped, standing up, "I guess if I want somebody to help me I just have to go to Virgil, eh?"
03. Memory
"You don't understand," Dorian mumbled as Roland's fingers combed through his sweat-matted hair, and with a short throaty noise he pulled away from the human, "You don't know what it's like not remembering what the sun feels like on your god damned skin."
04. Box
Dorian's eyebrows raised over his old sunglasses, and he shook the box slightly near his ear, "Where'd your poor ass get money for a present?" he asked.
05. Run
Dorian laughed at the friendly insult from his lover, and grabbed Roland's face with one hand, before licking the human's face in a primal sense of affection, and causing the man to flinch slightly, shivers running up and down his spine.
06. Hurricane
Dorian gave a slight growl and shook his head, "Stop talking to me like I'm a child," he said, eyes a blue hurricane, "I don't need you to fucking pat my hand and tell me everything'll be alright -- I need you to tell me I'm fucked, tell me how bad I screwed up, man."
07. Wings
Roland had known Dorian since they were both kids, and though he wouldn't admit, he was afraid of the vampire -- he'd always had anger problems, and he'd relished in things like catching flies and tearing the wings off, just to let them crawl around until they were carelessly stomped on.
08. Cold
Roland twitched awake at the feeling of cold lips on his lower abdomen, and he looked down to meet Dorian's crocodile-like grin, the fangs clearly visible.
09. Red
Roland found he was almost hypnotized by the smear of red on Dorian's chin -- his red -- no matter how many times it happened, Roland could never quite grasp the fact that he allowed his vampire lover to feed on him.
10. Drink
Since his changing, the taste of beer had somewhat lost its appeal to Dorian, as well as the taste of cigarettes -- and yet the vampire still drank, and he still smoked -- props that made him feel better when he was with his friends.
11. Midnight
"Rise and shine, little boy," Dorian grabbed a fistful of Roland's hair, dark blue eyes lifting to catch a glance of the clock that read midnight -- normally he woke the human up at dusk, but he was feeling a little generous on that day.
12. Temptation
Roland cursed under his breath as the razor sliced through his skin accidentally, and he turned his head slightly to study the minor wound, rinsing the blade under the running water -- he didn't even notice the way Dorian leaned against the doorframe, temptation clear in his expression.
13. View
Dorian peeled off the sweaty wife-beater, and as he dropped it, he threw a grin at Roland, who lay in bed, propped on an elbow and watching him, "Enjoying the view, you fuckin' fairy?"
14. Music
Roland hated when Dorian needed a ride -- in the human's SUV, they could never decide on a radio station -- Dorian was a huge fan of Southern rock and more classic stuff, while Roland preferred alternative and more recent stuff.
15. Silk
Dorian rested his cheek against Roland's smooth and muscular chest; the rough feeling of stubble that was growing caused the human to wriggle just slightly -- it was like sandpaper against silk, fire against ice.
16. Cover
Roland hated the pair of sunglasses that Dorian wore -- an oversized pair of black things that were cool back in the eighties -- he hated them because the vampire only seemed to wear them when he was trying to cover up his emotions or thoughts.
17. Promise
The first time that Dorian had sucked Roland's blood it'd been somewhat of a fluke -- something that needed to be done for survival, and the second time, Roland had been a bit wary -- but all he'd needed was that promise from the vampire, the promise that he'd never hurt him.
18. Dream
Dorian glanced away from the TV as Roland woke with a start beside him, and he grinned, reaching over to pull lightly at his hair, teasing lightly, "Have a bad dream?"
19. Candle
"Ah blow me," Roland snapped, grabbing the candlestick and throwing it over his shoulder at the vampire, "Dumb shit."
20. Talent
"Now that you're done with your little display," Dorian said, sitting down on the padded bench, "Spot me and watch real talent unfold before your very eyes."
21. Silence
Roland hated when it got to be too quiet, it made him feel awkward and weird; Dorian loved silence however -- he loved when it got to be so quiet he could hear Roland's heart beating -- it'd become one of those things he'd grown to appreciate after his change from living to undead.
22. Journey
Roland let out a short, breathy noise as Dorian's hand continued its journey downwards, slipping underneath the human's jeans, and causing him to wriggle just slightly from the coolness of the vampire's flesh.
23. Fire
"I wish you wouldn't do that," Roland said as the vampire ran his hand over the candle, allowing the small fire to lick greedily at his fingers, burning and darkening them, yet barely causing Dorian to wince.
24. Strength
With inhuman strength, Dorian rolled them over so that he was on top of the human, and grinning, he asked, "You didn't honestly think it would go down that way, did you?"
25. Mask
Roland tore his wrist from Dorian's vice-like grasp, and clutched tightly at the wound to stop the pouring blood, as the vampire relaxed back in the chair, regaining his composure, and grinning through his mask of the human's blood and his own sweat.
26. Ice
Roland used the excuse that the ice was stuck, and that's why he had to slam the tray down so harshly on the counter -- but it could've been clear to anyone that he was pissed, and what was even more clear was that he was pissed at Dorian.
27. Fall
Roland used to love Fall, he loved the smell of the air, he loved the sound of dead leaves crunching beneath his boots -- but now he hates it -- he hates the fact that at night when he's walking with Dorian, he can't get close to the vampire for warmth from the cool New York air; sometimes getting close to Dorian just makes him feel colder.
28. Forgotten
Roland tied to push the vampire to the door, but Dorian was busy studying the lightening sky -- he gave a grin, "I'd almost forgotten what color the sky turns right before the sun comes up," he said, ignoring Roland's grunt of frustration.
29. Dance
One of Dorian's favorite jokes to make about Roland (to his face, no less), was that the human had the perfect body to be a Chip n' Dale dancer -- Roland usually would get offended and claim something about manliness, which only made the joke funnier.
30. Body
Getting your blood sucked was almost one of those out-of-body experiences, and Roland would admit to anyone who asked that it was one of the most erotic and sensual things he'd ever been through -- well almost anyone; he didn't like admitting it to Dorian, because he liked for the vampire to think he was hurting him -- it made Dorian more careful.
31. Sacred
Dorian chortled, as he pushed Roland back against the mattress, "Come on, human," he said in a raspy whisper, "Stop being a prude -- sex isn't as sacred as people say it is..." his fingers tugged at the bottom of Roland's wife-beater, "Besides, you know we're perfect for each other."
32. Farewells
"God I thought they'd never leave," Dorian said, slamming the door shut after a little farewell moment with Virgil and Raellyn -- the four of them may have been best friends, but the vampire sure as Hell could get sick of them, especially when they intruded on his and Roland's time together.
33. World.
"Dorian, stop getting so fuckin' angry," Roland snapped, as the vampire viciously stubbed out his cigarette, "The world doesn't revolve around you -- get it through that thick, Southern head of yours."
34. Formal
Roland made a face at Dorian's idea of "formal attire" -- an ugly red flannel shirt, tight pair of jeans and his cowboy boots -- the only thing that made his clothes different from any other day was the red flannel -- he was even wearing the same undershirt he'd had on for three days beneath it.
35. Fever
"I can't take this," Dorian groaned, rubbing at his temples harshly as he sat in bed against the wall, "I'm getting fuckin' cabin fever in here, keep me down here like I'm some kind of god damned animal."
36. Laugh
Roland loved hearing Dorian's laugh -- not the malicious little laugh the vampire gave when he'd made a crude joke or something, but the genuine laugh that caught him off guard when Roland made some comically lame one-liner; it was a rare occasion, but definitely valued.
37. Lies
"You're lying," Dorian said quietly, and Roland looked away, "You guys are nowhere near finding Zelos, are you; nowhere near finding his god damned hide-out."
38. Forever
"Dorian," Roland sighed, and he sat up in bed to look down at the vampire, "You won't be like this forever, alright -- as long as you're sure he's the one that bit you, we'll find him, and we'll get you back to normal."
39. Overwhelmed
Dorian slowly thrust his hips forward, burying his cock the rest of the way, and Roland hissed in pain, back arching as he tried to move away from the overwhelming pain that shot through his body.
40. Whisper
"Roland," Dorian whispered, as he snaked his arm around the human's waist, "Tell me why we invited them to spend the night -- you know how I hate being quiet."
41. Wait
"Wait, wait, wait," Dorian said, holding his hands out as Roland went to slip his arms into the vampire's leather jacket, "What are you doing, man?"
42. Talk
"You always want to talk," Dorian said, rolling onto his stomach and burying his face in the pillow, "It's too early to talk, man -- let me sleep."
43. Search
The bruised and scarred wrist was held before him, and Dorian looked up to the human, searching Roland's expression for any signs of doubt before the vampire lightly grabbed his arm.
44. Hope
"I hope you know," Roland said in an almost sing-song voice as Virgil turned in the passenger seat to glance at the fuming Dorian in the back, "That now we're even farther from finding him, thanks to your little display in there, jackass."
45. Eclipse
Roland crossed his arms with a grumpy pout -- no matter how much more buff he was than Dorian, the vampire's inhuman strength always made him completely eclipse him in fighting skills.
46. Gravity
Sometimes Roland wonders how Dorian's hair can sometimes defy gravity; it sticks up in places that on anyone else it wouldn't, and he doesn't use hairspray -- Roland guesses it's one of those things that'll never be solved.
47. Highway
It had to have been fate that made them meet again -- friends since childhoold, Dorian had been forced by his parents to move, and years later, Roland had been taking Virgil down to Maryland, and there was Dorian, hitch-hiking down the highway like the common drifter.
48. Unknown
Roland leaned casually against the SUV, arms crossed, and as Dorian neared him, the vampire shook his head -- nobody in the club had heard of anyone by the name of Zelos Owen; it would seem that, in these parts, the clan leader was completely unknown.
49. Lock
"I want you to stay in here and lock the doors," Dorian said, opening the door of the car, and at Roland's incredulous look, he added, "The boys here are a little...um, well let's just say they're very....savage."
50. Breathe
Often nights, Roland would forget that Dorian didn't need to breathe, and when he'd wake up from a dream, and find that the vampire lay beside him, stiff and unmoving, he couldn't stop himself from shaking Dorian and getting just a little frantic.
