Non-Aggressive Babboon Troop

A friend of mine sent me this information, and I thought I'd share in case anyone else would find it interesting.

Essentially, all the aggressive males from a particular babboon troop were killed, and when the females and less-aggressive males took over, they completely changed the culture of the troop to a more caring and supportive group.

Just a quick comment, but that's a really awesome case study. I think that's shared ideals of altruism being given the right conditions to express themselves. We'd all do it if the social psychology allowed us to.

Oh yeah, I can totally see this being of interest to you. It's fascinating to think what would happen if the same circumstances of 'removing the aggressors' would happen in another society. Would it be the same, or would there be external aggressors that see the power vacuum and move in.

Sorry, I'm thinking too much on this.

Well, not *kill* them, but just not hold them back from eating tainted meat :P

I agree, my stomach isn't strong for bloody work like that, but I'd be happy to help clean up the aftermath. I'll bet the new society would value libraries more.
