So I read Catwoman: Nine Lives of a Feline Fatale a while ago and, frankly, I was a little disappointed. Some of the stories were great, but a lot just didn't cut it for me.

So, after a bit of thinking, I came up with my own list of the best Catwoman stories. Then I started creating lists for some of my other favorite characters. And then I ( Read more... )

Would it be worth you saying Why they're the best stories? None of those titles mean anything to me.

To Kill A Legend is the best Batman story ever. The Phantom Stranger gives Bruce a strange gift: access to an alternate Earth whose time is something like 25 years behind Earth-1. Bruce Wayne is still a kid, and his parents are still alive . . . but only for a couple more days. Batman and Robin do some investigating and discover some interesting facts, among them ( ... )

Ok, that does sound like a Batman story I'd love to read. What issue is it in?

Detective Comics #500.

Night of the HunterStalker (that's what I meant), the original, is also included in the latest "Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told!," the one with the Alex Ross cover.

What about the stuff after the death? I haven't read it yet (waiting for the upcoming Omnibus), but I hear it was still great stuff.

Regarding Catwoman: if you've never read Brubaker's run on the title (or at least the first 25 issues and Selina's Big Score), then I HIGHLY recommend them. Not only the best Catwoman written, but one of the best damn pieces of business I'd read in awhile ( ... )

Regarding Catwoman, if you haven't read it, check out Alan Brennert's classic story "The Autobiography of Bruce Wayne" originally in Brave and the Bold 197, which was reprinted in the old Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told, but I'm not sure about the new. It's the tale of how Earth-2 Batman and Catwoman married after a long dark night of Scarecrow's fear gas, and it's by far my favorite in-depth examination of that relationship in any medium/era, along with being a stellar golden age homage/batverse fairy tale/ crack delivery system/book with pretty art/argument that Dr. Crane is actually in some bizarre and unintentional way a really good couple's therapist...

glad you mentioned this. one of my favorite stories by far. i think we've found the reason why modern day bat & cat can't commit -- alluraphobia and chiroptophobia. lol
