As someone who didn't get into 2099 as a teenager, and, really, more recently (the past, i dunno, 10 years?) I've been looking forward to Spider-Man 2099 volume 2 more than any other Spider-Man book in the last ... since One More Day. And, since Peter isn't the main character, this it can be somewhat removed from the Spider-Man post-OMD snagglepuss.

I think that's a large part of why I enjoyed this latest volume of Scarlet Spider as well - it was Spider-Man without being Peter Parker. The humor that I think is essential to a good Spider-Book was still there, but it came from Kaine being the straight man to the people around him.
