George RR Martin's contract negotiations with Marvel
Sep 20, 2012 21:17
He wants his story to be completely immune from reboots, retcons or undoings, in perpetuity!
You have to admire the man's optimism if nothing else.

I love this man's writing, I do - fandom of 12 years and shit.
But this is the guy who said Black Widow in the Avengers movie was there for the sake of eye candy.
So I'll just point and laugh and hope Marvel isn't stupid enough to take him up to it (not that it's very likely).

Good for him. We won't have another Alan Moore/Watchmen controversy in twenty years.

Um, Doctor Strange isn't a character that Martin created. It would be more like someone writing Watchmen sequels and demanding that their version remain canon forever.

...oh. I probably should have read the article. I just assumed that he made a deal about his books.
....yeah that sounds pretty extreme. O.O

I'm reminded of a great quote from Bender:
"Hahahahaha!
Oh wait you're serious. Let me laugh harder.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Maddened concession demands aside, I hope they come to some kind of agreement. George R.R. Martin writing superhero comics would be pretty damn sweet.
