I like the trailer, my only problem is the cute part of the kid with the cape. Which is fun and all, until I remember that most people wearing a cape like that are playacting at being Superman. In a world where Superman hasn't even started his career yet, who's he pretending to be?
Sorry, was so busy looking at the trailer, that I didn't read the text underneath. But yeah... I'm sure it's meant to hint at Superman's cape, but still... it feels wrong continuity wise. Unless they mention something about how there was a comic book in verse, that had a character wearing a cape.
Maybe the child isn't Clark, and the voice-over is meant to say that Superman is going to change the way that many children see themselves in the future.
Do we know what era the film is set in? Even if it were set in the 1940s, there were already "Mystery Men" like the Phantom, Doc Savage, the Shadow, etc. Some of whom probably wore opera capes (which were a part of men's formal attire for many centuries).
If the film is set in the present, then the JSA would be an obvious influence (I'd prefer to think that they were not as secretive as in Smallville, and that perhaps Clark got to see Alan Scott and the other cape guys).
I actually liked it. It was really different from what I was expecting of to be and seemed to reinforce that the movie will be much more about Clark Kent than the previous movies has been. It also helps that according to what I read from the ComiCon, they're still going to have crazy awesome supermoments in this.
There are by the way two versions of this trailer. In the second one we hear Jor-El's voice over, in which he tells Kal-El that he will be an inspiration for others.

Captain Marvel. At least, that's my guess; I've seen some fanfic where Clark grew up idolizing Captain Marvel.
