Does DC's in-house Superman page even allow commenters to bring up real feminist critiques, as opposed to this straw-woman crap? Do tell. I'm dying to know.

Right? Especially if they allow crap like this to be posted on their website...

It's not their website. It's a fan site, and the people who run it are the ones who pick the questions that get asked.

I believe that DC had to disable all commenting at their blog because of the level of bile and personal attacks that were directed towards it's creators there, and much of it in the sort of language I can't repeat here, nor would I if I could.

Naturally, of all the letters/emails they received from female fans about this book (and I'm betting they got a lot), they chose *that* one to represent the 'proper' female readership and give the time of day to. Colour me unsurprised :/

Plus points to him for playing the "it's the internet and you're not signing your real name so your argument is invalid" card, too...

Especially since he's using that same 'coward's domain' to spew the rubbish he's saying here? Makes me wonder if this means he's brave enough say these same words to a live audience at a convention. No really. I genuinely want to know.

I can see it happening on a panel, but to a fan's face I don't know.

I love how far the person asking the question went to make sure they understood that they weren't "one of those fans", too. Oh honey no.

Augh that argument REEKS. Last year on Deviant Art all these guys were trying to argue that sexism doesn't exist in comics because one female creators made a journal saying that it doesn't. They pointed at it saying, 'look here, THIS woman isn't offended so you can't be either!' As if we all share a hive-mind or something.

Yeah. Feminist fans can't have nice things published for us because there's just more of us totally important awesome men so tough toenails, Sweetie!

But then they find one out of a few hundred female fans whose willing to bag on feminism to be "one of the boys" and that just totally proves that feminism is worthless and unnecessary! See? We found one woman who thinks you're all just stupid girls so shut up!

The importance of numbers changes from minute to minute, based on whether or not it supports or threatens the status quo.

I think, more than anything, I'm offended that Idelson believes we dumb broads just fell off the back a turnip truck yesterday; that we're too stupid to have seen this dodge-and-weave bullshit before and to already know how fucking common and obvious it is.
