JMS's Odyssey

Jul 06, 2010 16:47

House to Astonish made the very interesting point that Odyssey is horribly late 90s not just in the costume design, but also that it's essentially repeating the story beats of Age of Apocalypse...

Speculation on Wondy's future )

No chance in hell that's Cassie. They showed the character she was supposed to be, though admittedly she totally changed.

Io is a smith, not a fighter. I hope she didn't have her crush on Diana since she was a child, so I see no reason she'd be included taking Diana to safety. Except if they sent the ones who have less skill fighting away.

What where when???

Io is a smith, not a fighter.

All Amazons are fighters. Io however was their best smith and the only one who knew things like how to weaponise the Purple Ray. Knowing that your daughter will need arms and armour when she comes of age, who would you send to cover that eventuality.

the second page she appeared, second panel.

"What you have to understand is that the world you see isn't always the world that is or has been."

"In the world that I see you have always been exactly as you are right now."

"And you have never been anything like what you are right now."

"Just as I--" they show a traditionally dressed Amazon with long dark hair holding a staff

"Was not always what I am now."

Now it kind of looks like Hippolyta. But there's absolutely no reason to show her in that panel.

It's far more likely to be Poly in that pic and Cassie recast as the oracle than it is to be some semi-random Amazon who's died and somehow gotten reincarnated as a young blonde of Cassandra Sandsmark's age
