dS Recs, and Slash Goes Mainstream

I have successfully passed my First Aid/CPR 'C' course, and my reward is...a cold with some flu-like symptoms. (Don't worry - I am on the lookout for swine flu, and the doctor is on speedial!) Anyway, this sudden illness has provided me with the perfect excuse to laze about today and catch up on my reading. Thus, I have recs!

You know, we must've been reading "Duty" at exactly the same time just now, because we commented within a few minutes of each other. : )

And, ooh, Age of Sail m/m romance! That definitely sounds like it would appeal to me (I'm reading the Master and Commander books right now).

Heee, I think so! What time is it where you are? It's just past noon here, and I'm still in my jammies :-)

How are the Master and Commander books? I'm thinking of scoring them from the library to read up in camp, and I've heard a lot of good things. Are you enjoying the series?

You should totally read the Master and Commander books. They have a lurking sense of humour that is quite enjoyable.

Age of Sail is currently my primary fandom. Well, okay, that and C6D. Maybe we need a Canadian sail movie.

I love the M&C series. That was my big reading project while pregnant with Child, because heaven only knew when I'd have that kind of time to read again. I finished the last one just before she was born. \o/

Well, we do have Buried on Sunday and "Mountie on the Bounty"... *g*

But yes, thanks for the rec! I shall definitely pick up those books.

Well, for me it's six in the evening, and I'm kind of surfing around before going home from work...

I like them a lot, though I've only read the first book so far. They're about two men who canonically call each other 'dear joy'. Also, there's incredible detail about sailing, and one of the men is a naturalist and gets all geeky about beetles and plants. *g*

Heee, I wonder why that would appeal to you... :-)

I liked them too, though not as much as Hornblower and his amazing double entendres that weren't in the 1950s. (The steward placed upon the table a giant smoking joint. Frexample.)
