Talk of Art, Fangirls and Other Important Matters

I had a very good weekend with meresy and the lovely and amazing eledhwenlin in Toronto over the weekend. It was great to finally meet E, who is very sweet and intelligent and someone with whom I really click. (Unlike, say, Meres, who orders poutine topped with very weird and exotic meats. Not cool, M! :P)

*sighs wistfully*

I like the Crystal. I'm very sorry the AGO wasn't finished when I was there. Oh dear, I might have to visit again...

Interesting paintings - I particularly like the Thomson.

Heh, y'know, the Crystal is growing on me. It's just kind of fashionable to hate it right now :-) And I'm glad you like the Thomson! His stuff has a tremendous impact when you see it vs. look at tiny digital reproductions. I'm very fond of the scale of his paintings, and of the colour palette he chooses. *nods*

Great pictures. When we were on tour, we went to a museum in, I think, Vancouver, that was doing an exhibit about Group of Seven artist(s). It was very interesting, I feel like I might have seen some of the work you have pictured. I wonder if it was just work by the same artist(s) and that's why it looks familiar?

Oh, well. Very cool.

Hmmm, might be! If it was a Group of Seven exhibit, they probably displayed some of Harris' work, and could have thrown in Emily Carr and Thomson as a bonus :-) The Group itself had a pretty distinct style, so you might have picked up on that, too.
