It's a fairly spread-out city. I wouldn't say it has an urban core, really. Just lots of strips and suburbs.
In December it's cool and sunny. Not really hot - I mean, the sun will feel hot, but it's not hot like summer.

Surgeon General's Warning: Smoking Causes Lung Cancer, Heart Disease, Emphysema and May Complicate Pregnancy
To the best of my knowledge this is a pretty standardised message that appears on all cigarette packs, cartons and promo material (Camel bucks, for ince), regardless of brand.
Also, Phoenix, Vegas, Palm Springs and the like are usually comparatively warm and arid during the winter months, but downright chilly at night. Hope that helps a little?
