Aug 02, 2007 17:04

Taken from spuffyduds, sdwolfpup and keerawa, all of whom have posted a number of intriguing excerpts from WIPs that I hope will grow into full-fledged stories:

When you see this, post a little weensy excerpt from as many random works-in-progress as you can find lying around. Who knows? Maybe inspiration will burst forth and do something, um, inspiration-y.I think I've ( Read more... )

I really shouldn't read people's WsIP, because it's like torture. I want to read it all! Now!

I especially love the rentboy AU. There's not nearly enough fic where Ray takes Fraser in and looks after him, as opposed to the other way around. Which is a pity, because woobie!Fraser is so cute. I also love the idea of Fraser as a boy, awkward and stuttering. Reading it from Martha's point of view would be fascinating.

If we kidnap you, will you finish them? ;-)

I know! This WIP meme is the fanfic equivalent of water torture, especially for us instant-gratification types :-)

If we kidnap you, will you finish them?

Hahaha, have you seen what being in the company of other fangirls does to my productivity? It ain't pretty. I can't even finish an email, let alone a fic. However, hanging out with other fangirls as a reward for finishing a fic is a lovely incentive. con_txt is like a big ol' carrot on a stick for me, since I'm looking at it as my reward for finishing the rentboy AU. (Yeah, next June. That is my timeline. *weeps*) Thanks for your support for these poor WiP!

*g* Yay! I'm very happy the snippet didn't send the bad-rentboy bells a'ringing. The story has been getting good response from my betas, so I'm confident I'll be able to carry it off without resorting to the most offensive kind of rentboy cliches ;-)

These all look great. The one with Bob and wee!Fraser calls most clearly to me, though. I love that you have it from Bob's POV.

*g* Thanks - there really needs to be more Bob-POV fics out there, I think. Particularly from that time in his life, when Fraser was still young and Bob was busy establishing himself as a legend in the north. He's such an interesting character, so full of grief and false cheer. I ran into some problems with the narrative style (Bob's POV is tought to sustain) but I'm hoping I'll get back to it once the rentboy AU is up and running.

I want to read the story from the POV of the murdered guy! What a different perspective!

Hahaha, yes, it's a different perspective. Tough to maintain a steady narrative, though, and then Dead Bob started showing up and messing with the poor kid's head and I got about 5000 words in and abandoned it for less confusing pastures. I might take it up again sometime soon, though. It's still an intriguing perspective to use.
